Happy Hoody Days

As you can see, I did it again. I've been neglecting this blog like it's homework! My apologies. It's been a tough month of overhauling the new site while trying to get all the HeadHoods out the door in time for the Holidays. I'd like to think I did I a pretty decent job now that I look back. Wasn't easy!
Now that I'm in the midst of some much needed R & R in Pittsburgh, I can begin to plan for the upcoming year, which I must admit is going to be a good one for HeadHoods, me and you! Before going into details, I first want to thank all of you who have bought a HeadHood in the past. You doing so has kept me afloat through this tough economic year and has also kept me from crawling back to working for the man. Thank you thank you thank you and thank you.
When I get back to Brooklyn, I'm going to hit the ground running. I'll be running in a bunch of different directions similar to a chicken with it's headhood cut off! (Badum chshhh)
Most importantly I want to finalize this website by finishing off the different sections by posting the latest T shirt styles and making them available to you as well as the tote section, the print section and also the about section. (I have some other ideas, but I'm going to keep those secret for now!) I'll be keeping you better informed by updating this blog much more frequently.
How am I going to continue doing this all single handedly? I'm not! On top of seeking out an intern to help me for 2010 with HeadHoods Brooklyn, I will also be getting much needed help from my best and dearest friend Nate Guillard and his lovely wife Lisa Guillard who will be taking on the baby and kids line from their house in New Jersey! Nate and Lisa are probably two of the coolest and talented parents to walk this earth and I am honored to have them join the HeadHoods team! I will go in to much more detail in a later post to give you a better idea of what to expect in the coming months.
That's all for now. I wish you all a very happy new year and hope that you come back and visit the New and improved HeadHoods.

最佳聽衆 飛輪海 !!!

This video was recently brought to my attention from a friend of mine. When watching it, I was psyched to see all four members of Fei Lun Hai (Fahrenheit) were sporting HeadHoods. It makes me happy to know that even though I haven't had the chance to travel to far off places, my HeadHoods certainly have!

RIP Alberto Serejo

Just the other day, I learned that a good friend of mine was a victim in a hit and run that took place as he was doing a photo shoot in LA. It's been a very sad few days, because Alberto was honestly one of the most genuine, sincere and supportive people I've met. He seeked me out while he was on a photoshoot in NYC. If it wasn't for HeadHoods, I wouldn't have met Alberto and his working partner Daniel Weinreich. I introduced him to what I was doing and he instantly became one of my biggest fans and even offered to help put together a HeadHoods Denmark outpost with his sons and himself as employees! I was truly moved by his generosity and encouragement to keep doing what I'm doing. Alberto will be missed but not forgotten by HeadHoods and myself.

Something new...

I've been getting a little crazy with overlaying and stamping and am looking to overhaul HeadHoods for the 2009-2010 HeadHood season!

I hate motorcycles

I don't know why I thought moving a clothing line to the back of a motorcycle garage would be a good idea.

Just moved in!

I must say it was a bit sad leaving my spot in the back of the motorcycle shop this past week. I put a lot of work into that spot and made a whole lot of HeadHoods and friends there too. Thinking long term, I needed another spot which was more accessible and had a more appropriate vibe and found it! I believe it's one of the last Artist live work spots in Williamsburg and I was lucky enough to grab it. I'm looking forward to taking HeadHoods to the next level here at 427 Manhattan Ave! Give me a few weeks and this place will be up to par!

Missing!!! Found!

On the walk home from the Thai restaurant, Mel and I found what I thought was just a hilarious poster advertising someone's bike being ripped off. I usually would have just left it hanging there, but we decided this poster was too good to leave behind and began taking it down only to discover there was a Tshirt hidden behind it!!! It was my size! Turns out this is the work of Threadless / Julian Glander. Kudos.

Williamsburg Flea Market!

Sorry for the long delay in posting this blog. For the last few weeks, I've been putting my market skills to the test every Sunday at the Williamsburg Flea Market located between South 2nd and South 3rd streets on Wythe ave. It's nice to finally meet with people face to face and sell my work on the spot. Good times are always guaranteed with a cooler full of ice cold Tecates, good conversation, live DJs and of course the latest of my design work hanging on display. And if you pull your funds together and buy something, I'll give you a free cry baby canvas tote!

I've also been very busy with improving my workspace, which I will post pictures of in the near future.

HeadHoods in the press! Read all about it!

If you grab a copy of Timeout NY this week, you will see a nice write up on HeadHoods!

HEADHOODS GOES VROOM VROOM

I'm proud to announce that my days of schlepping HeadHoods around via, skateboards, bikes, borrowed cars, gypsy cabs, and hand trucks are coming to an end. I would like to introduce you to the latest addition to HeadHoods! Drum roll please! A retired police meter maid scooter. After years of driving the streets of Manhattan issuing god knows how many traffic tickets, it is now being put to much more practical use, which is transporting your HeadHoods and transporting them in style!

Muave! Teal! Deep Pink! and Heather!

I have to admit I was pretty psyched to find out American Apparel finally released some of their awesome colors to us wholesalers. I quickly ordered some and now have them available on the site!

HEADHOODS LOVES SARAH FROM MTV's REAL WORLD!!!

Once again, I salute Sarah for going beyond the call of duty and fully rocking her King of Hearts HeadHood!

Another MTV Real World HeadHood siting!

I skimmed through another somewhat painful episode of MTV's Real World and was happy to see Sarah rocking another HeadHood. If only the rest of the cast was as cool as she was and did the same! Stay tuned!

How could you be so HeadHood?!

I'm proud to announce that I have released three new styles for you! After a number of requests I've decided to pick my three favorites Kanye, Michael Jackson and the Big Baby. I am really psyched with how they came out and look forward to printing them. I personally am a big fan of the new Mauve color I have available now. American Apparel is finally releasing some new wholesale colors, which you will start seeing available on the website!

We're back!

Well we just got back from an incredible three day trip down to Washington D.C. Not only did we get to witness history in the making, we made a lot of new friends and sold a lot of Obama HeadHoods. We got incredible feedback by everyone and were even interviewed by Esquire, NY times, Chicago Tribune, CNN and even a Colombian radio station, which apparently 15 million people were tuning in! I was also fortunate enough to get an Obama HeadHood into Tony Okungbowa and Andrew Bird's hands! There were quite a number of photos taken of the three of us and if anyone stumbles across any of them on the web, or newspaper, I'd love to see them!

HEADHOODS ON MTV'S REAL WORLD

I thought it was about time I replaced the news section of the HeadHoods site with something that was a little more aesthetically pleasing and informative. What a better time to have a blog, because I was just informed that there has been a HeadHoods spotting on the first episode of MTV's Real World! For the record, this wasn't my first choice of show. Why couldn't it have been The Wonder Years or better yet, Seinfeld?...oh wait. Anyways, I'm not going to complain. They don't seem like your typical Real World bunch, which is kind of cool. As you can see, she isn't full on rocking her King of Hearts HeadHood and I'm probably the only one who noticed she is wearing it.
